Sunflower

Like a sunflower always facing the Sun,
My whole life revolves around my daughter.
She is, indeed, my reason for living.
Away from her, my life has no taste,
No substance. I can put up with
A short separation, followed by
The explosive joy of a reunion.
Being together allows me
To witness her achievements,
To encourage her and gather
My strength from her presence,
Rather than being apart and
Worrying about each other, to be
Both protective and protected,
Understanding and understood,
Drawing energy from our smiles
To one another; communicating
Confidence as our eyes declare:
“I believe in you!” and “I trust you.”
I am grateful, for she is my peace of mind...
